CHEESECAKE !!

I've finally made my very first "cheesecake"

I've bookmarked this recipe months ago and have finally made it :)
Ingredients
120g chocolate cookies
350g ricotta (I only bought a 250g tub not realising I needed that much but it still turned out fine)
125g cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 egg whites (having misread the recipe again!!! I only used 3 eggs and forgot the egg whites)
1 1/4 cup vanilla yoghurt
1/3 cup plain flour
some berries and jam for decoration
1- Preheat oven to 170 degrees and line tin with baking paper
2- Mix the cheeses and sugar with an electric mixer till smooth
3- Add the eggs, beating well after each addition
4- This is when your SUPPOSE to add the egg whites
5- Stir in the remaining ingredients
6- Bake for 1hr 15 minutes and cool cake in the oven with door slightly open (approx 1-2hrs)
7-Spread jam and berries on top

Ramen + dessert

I've never been a fan of ramen until I've tried On Ramen. Its so addictive! The broths are rich and well flavoured, the side dishes are quite nice (love the salmon and squid), rice dishes are quite nice but not as good as the ramen.

The pork tongue ramen is highly recommended

Beef ramen .......followed by a drink at passionflower

On Ramen is located on Hay St, near central

BOON - chocolate cafe

We were all so full from french and just when I thought I couldn't eat anymore....
We stop outside of BOON.

We head upstairs where the decor is so comfortable and relaxing and there's jazz playing in the background. I just wanted to sleep..zzzzzzzz

I order the soy hot chocolate which comes with mouse and a piece of chocolate

This was the chocolate expresso which was a very thick chocolate. It was so nice but we were all way too full.
They had a selection of handmade chocolates but the mouse was my favourite.

Sel Poivre

I've never tried french before so I don't know how this compares to other French food but it wasn't that great

We started the meal with escargot and baguettes which were warm and crisp!I had the pan seared duck leg with lentils. The skin was nice and crisp but the lentils were really bland

Someone else had the pan fried fish and risotto. The risotto was quite nice and cheesyAnother main, salmon ( can't remember the exact name) but I heard it was too oily

The lamb was the best dish of the night and it was also served with a side of fries

Vegetarian pasta. Didn't try this one

Steak with bernaise sauce. This was probably one of the most expensive mains of the night but there was barely anything on the plate (it wasn't a very big pllate either). I kept waiting for a side dish to be brought out along with the steak but this was it. We had to order a mash to go with it.

Don't remember what this was but it had red wine in it and it was very rich!

Overall it was ok but the chocolate cafe we went to RIGHT after dinner was amazing!!

photo dump

I love tortillas but I find most of the store bought ones are too salty and full of preservatives so ...i made my own. And they didn't dissapoint

These are the simplest and easiest cupcakes/donuts ever!!

Brushed melted butter on top of half the batch then dipped them into a cinnamon sugar for donuts

Alternatively cut the tops off the muffins and split that in half, then dollop some yogurt/ flavoured cream and place the muffin tops back on

- Preheat oven to 180 degrees

- Whisk 1 1/2 cups of self-raising flour and 1/4 tsp salt

- In a seperate bowl, whisk 1/2 cup sugar ( the original recipe called for 1 cup but I find thats too sweet) and an egg

- Pour the wet mix into the dry mix and combine

- Fold into the mixture 1/4 cup olive oil, 3/4 cup milk and 1 tsp of vanilla extract

- Whisk till smooth

- Pour the mixture into small muffin tins and bake for 20minutes

This was my first attempt at making challah and failed quite miserably. I need to buy new yeast

A very simple and fragrant lemon yoghurt cake which is so incredibly light and fluffy and a chocolate brownie where nothing was measured and every ingredient was thrown in randomly and without measurements
This yoghurt cake was sooooo so fluffy. Will post the recipe in a later post

The chocolate brownie turned out quite well

I love smoothies..so simple and nourishing

Made half a batch of cinnamon scrolls and half of cheese and vegemite. I really need new yeast. Nothings rising like its suppose to

Suminoya buffet

Went to 1 Hosking Place, Sydney for a friends birthday. It was a barbeque buffet where you ordered whatever you wanted from the menu within a certain timeframe. The scallops were the frozen types.

Food was decent although the rice dishes were all rather bland. My favourite meat was the beef tongue. I really wanted to try the sausages however somehow, we always managed to burn it.

My favourite were the salads and the sashimi. We had 8 people so we ordered a couple of everything. The corn came in small metal dishes with a knob of butter. The whole dish went on the grill and it was fantastic. The fresh corn kernels swimming in melted butter....yum

Sashimi was quite fresh, we had salmon, kingfish, tuna and squid, the eel was rather plain but the salads were awesome. My favourite was the seafood and seaweed salad.

This was the extent of the whole menu which included desert of vanilla ice-cream, green tea ice-cream, lemon sorbet or coffee jelly.

This was the first time I've tried 'Yukke' which is marinated raw beef with raw egg yolk. It was great!! I really liked it and ate plenty of it.

Crystal Seafood restaurant

Had dinner with my parents at one of the few large Chinese restaurants left in my area.
Forgot to take photos of all the food and I can't even remember what we had but in the photos theres:

Deep fried ice-cream---<3

can't remember what this was

Some kind of fried ribs

Mud crab- my favourite part is the noodles

soup

Overall, it tastes like most Chinese restaurants so nothing really special but the service was definitely above average for chinese restaurants. The waiters were very attentive and service was great.
